On February 6, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake devastated large areas of central Turkey and northwest Syria. The death toll has surpassed 17,000 and continues to climb.
We continue to witness via news reports the horrible loss of life and damage in Turkey and Syria, and we stand in solidarity and prayer with our brothers and sisters there. Catholic aid agencies have launched emergency collections for quake victims.
Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the international humanitarian agency of the U.S. Church, is already on the ground offering emergency relief efforts led by local partners with Caritas Turkey, Caritas Syria in Aleppo and Lattakia, and others. They are bringing displaced people to safe spaces and distributing hot meals, clean water, hygiene supplies, and other essentials. They are collecting donations. If you wish to help in these efforts or make a donation, please visit crs.org.
Along with financial support, prayer remains essential. Let us continue to offer our prayers to our brothers and sisters who mourn losses and face this devastation.
A beautiful post from Tomorrow's Children's Fund in regards to last month's toy drive:
"The Hasbrouck Heights Corpus Christi School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society spearheaded a Christmas Gift Drive on behalf of the young patients of the Tomorrows Children’s Fund using a list of curated items chosen especially for the TCF kiddos. It was all aboard from the Pre-K students all the way up to the 8th graders J These items included Lego Duplo and coloring books & crayons collected by the Pre-K classes, Painting Craft kits by the 1st & 2nd graders, the 3rd & 4th graders collected Lego Building Sets, the 5th & 6th grade classes collected String Art Craft kits while the 7th graders collected Adult Coloring Books and Markers. The 8th graders rounded out the donation by supplying headphones, ear buds and wireless speakers. The students had a great time putting this all together hoping to bring Extra Smiles to the faces of our kids for a Very, Merry Christmas J … well, Mission Accomplished! KIDS HELPING KIDS Best thing ever!!!"
It was a weekend of prayer, music, food, dunk tanks, tricky trays and fun. Corpus Christi Church had a wonderful weekend celebrating their 125th anniversary.
One of the biggest highlights was a special Sunday mass celebrated by the Archbishop, Cardinal Tobin. After the mass, the Cardinal joined the parish for a celebration where four of our students got to read their essays about why the love Corpus Christi Church and parish to him.
Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, May 19, 2022 – We are proud to announce that Corpus Christi School is a 2021-2022 National Beta School of Merit. The school earned this recognition by offering National Beta to all eligible grades on their campus. National Junior Beta includes grades 4-8 and National Senior Beta includes grades 9-12.
The National Beta School of Merit award is given to honor a club’s dedication and commitment to academic excellence. To achieve this prestigious honor, a school must include members from all eligible grade levels in their Beta club. This year, only 3,380 Beta Clubs across the country received this award.
In a congratulatory letter to the school, Bobby Hart, CEO said “Thank you for your continued support of National Beta and commitment to developing future leaders!”
"We are very happy to be part of the National Junior Honors Society and it is such a great opportunity for our children to continue to grow."
Corpus Christi School has and will continue to be committed to your children’s safety, learning and happiness.
Earlier this year, the school applied for a security grant through the SFY22 NJ Nonprofit Security Grant Program. We are happy to report, Corpus Christ School was named as one of only 42 recipients of this tremendous grant.
As a result, Corpus Christi School will be able to purchase and install new, more secure entrance doors at both the preschool and the main school buildings. We here at the school are very excited about this opportunity and plan to have the new doors installed before the start of the 2022/2023 academic school year.
Corpus Christi School exemplifies a strong family environment filled with a spirit of care, compassion and service toward others.
Academic excellence is expected of each student supported by teachers who believe in life-long learning for themselves as well as their students.
Corpus Christi School implements 21st Century Skills and prepares its students to succeed in a multidimensional and global existence.
Students and staff witness to a profound Catholic Identity founded in prayer, Liturgy and the practice of Gospel values.
